Entertainment Review: O.P.E.N 24Hours Nonstop Entertainment

At the O.P.E.N 24Hours Nonstop Entertainment on 2nd Of October 2016, several talents were showcase across segments in terms of dance, mascot characters, bouncing castles, games, music performance, Comedy and so many others.

The O.P.E.N event was held at FunCity Frontage Open Ground, Ikorodu, Lagos. The large amount of professional “Disc Jockeys” in play on the wheels which attracts over thousands of spectators, bystanders, fans and viewers. Below are names of listed music(al) artiste who spice up the event; TeeQ Bello (Eko+Ibadan crooner), Orterry (Mr Cucumber), Mercee, Loka, Meyra, J.Smile, Elviz Blaze, and lot more.
Bashexy Oluwakemi Hassan – Chief Executive Officer, Suave Records hosted and spoke at the event on the topic “Taking Thousands Nigeria Youth Off  The Street Of Unemployment“. The speech was presented with details of employment opportunities in entertainment business.

“One of the major challenges in Africa today is the high rate of Unemployment amongst our youths. This inadvertently increase poverty, frustration, disappointment, threat to peace and domestic violence;
An idle mind they say is the devils workshop, and as a result of this many unemployed youths and able bodies men and women engages themselves in crime such as armed robbery, prostitution, etc in order to earn living”.
“Different solutions have been suggested and have been practically adopted by some of our elected officials and government agencies. Startups and Vocational training for the unemployed youths have been embarked upon and they are yielding fruits. On my part today, together with OPEN, we want to OPEN your mind to employment opportunity in entertainment or you can call it, business opportunities in Entertainment”.
“To me I believe entertainment applies to every aspect of life. Entertainment is said to be the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment”.
“According to Wikipedia Entertainment “is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task. Entertainment evolves and can be adapted to suit any scale, ranging from an individual who chooses a private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; to any size or type of party, with appropriate music and dance; to performances intended for thousands; and even for a global audience.”
“The entertainment industry (informally known as show business or show biz) is part of the tertiary sector of the economy and includes a large number of sub-category. ‎In the popular parlance, the term show biz in particular connote the commercially popular performing arts, especially theatre, comedy, film, cinema, television, radio, and music.”
The President of the Association ( GBAGBA QUDDUS – Headway Events Boss). In his speech, he stressed the essence of OPEN 24 HOURS NONSTOP ENTERTAINMENT of being an info-entertainment medium to reach out to the youth compare to the regular empowerment program that youth are being bamboozled with info that in most cases not getting useful to the youth.

He highlighted the significant of the event as follows:
1. Celebrating Nigeria Independent Day through giving back to the nation by discouraging unemployment.
2. Sending employment messages to youth through entertainment with the projection of taking thousands of Nigeria youth off the street of unemployment.
3. Nigeria youth should look into entertainment business as a means of livelihood and as a professional career to decongest the labor market.
4. Apart from football, entertainment is another major language understood by youth and lot of jobs can be created from it.

He also stressed how challenging it took to put this together, that individual and corporate bodies are not ready to support this despite the youthfulness and empowerment of the project. On his final note, he gave assurance that the event will be a yearly project and the campaign will continually be on job creation by the grace of God.
The monday morning was a refreshed moment with new white uniform polo shirt changed to by members of O.P.E.N, this spelt out the essence of the project. On the white uniform cloth was #SayNoToUnemployment #GetEmployedThroughEntertainment boldly written at the front of the polo shirts.
The morning started with aerobic display by members of O.P.E.N around 7am till almost 8am photographers took over the aerobic display around 8am through snapping of several funny pictures. That section was so interesting with different photo postures. This lasted for about one (1) hour and the Deejays activities took over exactly 9am with playing of several old school songs from Nigeria to foreign. It was awesome as the Deejays drops these mighty beats to dance to. The old school songs lasted for another one (1) hour.
At around 10am members of O.P.E.N where almost dulling, feeling sleeping and weak because they’ve exhausted 24 hours already as a result of their availability from 7am on Sunday. But the audience that went home to home to relax came back like 10/10.30am. So the crowd brought about inspiration and motivation. And a slight refreshment was provided for members and that ignite zeal in them. So the event continues to 1pm straight. Guest artiste came on stage to perform, comedians are not left behind. While the dancers wrap up the show at exactly 1:15pm. At this point, it looks like the event should continue but they’ve to end it their.
The closing remark was done with recitation of the national anthem.
