Santos place Franck Ribery, Francesco Totti and Yaya Toure on wanted list

Franck Ribery, Yaya Toure and Francesco Totti have joined Bastian Schweinsteiger on Dorival Junior’s list of transfer targets as Santos coach.
Dorival said last month that it would “be a huge wake-up call for the world” if Santos could attract a player of the calibre of Schweinsteiger, who has only recently been welcomed back into the Manchester United first-team squad having been frozen out by Jose Mourinho.
Now, in an interview with Brazilian publication Lance!, he says that other European stars have been discussed.
“I work in reality, but I have to try and build the best team possible,” he said. “I think of it as a marketing move, which can gain new members or a partner interested in the image of the player.

“This is the healthy side of football, wanting more and more. Then comes the board looking for a new name, a man who is down and wants to turn his career around.
“Ribery is one of these, who could be a name, and at Manchester City there is Yaya Toure. Totti is another that if he came would attract everyone’s attention.
“We are discussing some names. Sometimes the player himself is looking for a new place and is disposed to a new financial situation.”
Totti, now 40, is in the final year of his professional career after spending almost 24 years in Roma’s first-team, while Yaya Toure’s position at Manchester City remains uncertain under Pep Guardiola with his contract up in the summer.
Ribery only put pen to paper on a new deal with Bayern Munich three weeks ago, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until 2018.
